HALL OF FAME

Ian Gallagher (Goalkeeper) 1994?? - 2008

Ian made his debut for Great Chishill Reserves when he was barely out of nappies and immediately looked a class act between the sticks.  He patiently plied his trade in the Reserves for several years before the deserved call up eventually came from the first team where he was the backbone of the defence for over 10 years.  He became a regular contender for Player of the Year, winning it on at least two occasions, he had a stand named after him and even once got on the scoresheet, notching a penalty in an entertaining thriller against Fowlmere.  But as a Barrington boy, born and bred, the calls from his own village side eventually became too hard to resist and he transferred in 2008, only to score against Chishill Reserves in his first game against us.  A great goalkeeper who is yet to be replaced at Goat Meadow.

Steve McGee (Striker) 2004?? – 2009

One of Chishill’s most prolific strikers, Steve made the Golden Boot award a predictable one during his time at the club.  He netted an astonishing 28 goals in our successful 2006/07 season which saw our promotion to Division 2.  Steve was a penalty box predator who was also capable of the spectacular.  Known for his colourful boots and sense of humour, in one game he got so bored up front he started thinking up wacky nicknames for some of his teammates.  Steve was a man of experience and would probably admit to having more in common with the supporters behind the goal than some of his younger teammates.

Now well into his thirties, old man McGee is still finding the net over at Steeple Morden, but will forever be a cult hero among the Chishill faithful.
