Whittlesford Reserves 4 – 1 Great Chishill
Date: 17 January 2010
Chishill played their first game for over a month and were clearly relishing it as they stunned unbeaten Whittlesford in the first two minutes. Jonathan Drury worked some space in the box and toe-poked the ball over the keeper. For the next 15 minutes the visitors looked the stronger side, but Whittlesford were not going to surrender their record easily and turned the game around with two quick goals, the second of which was an excellent curled effort from the edge of the box. Chishill had another good spell of pressure before halftime but were unable to break down a strong defence.
They had their best chance for an equaliser fell to Gary Radford just after the break, but he rolled his shot inches wide of the post. Gareth Edey almost found himself in a one-on-one with the keeper but a last ditch tackle prevented him from getting his shot away. As Chishill began to tire the hosts looked to put the game out of reach and succeeded when they made it 3 – 1 with a half volley from a left-wing cross. A fourth goal soon followed to give a slightly harsh scoreline on Chishill, who rallied at the end in an attempt to restore some pride but couldn’t find a second goal.
